Bridal Preparation Guide

From Your Makeup Artist — Read This Before the Big Day

Your wedding makeup will photograph beautifully and last all day — but only if the canvas (your skin) is ready for it. The truth is, makeup can only do so much. The rest? That’s where you come in.

Here’s how to prep your skin in the weeks leading up to your wedding:

1. Skincare Is Everything

Great makeup starts with healthy, hydrated skin. If your skin is dry, textured, or congested, makeup will cling, separate, or look “cakey”.

Start Now:

  • Exfoliate 2–3x per week (gently!) to remove dead skin.

  • Moisturize daily with a product that suits your skin type.

  • Hydrate from the inside out — drink plenty of water.

Book Facials:
Regular facials leading up to the wedding will improve texture, tone, and hydration.
Pro tip: Add dermaplaning to remove peach fuzz and dead skin — makeup will glide on flawlessly. Start getting facials 4-6 months leading up to the wedding.

I offer 20% off to all of my brides/clients if you come get a facial with me! Message me for more info!  Or just book directly here —> vagaro.com/looksandlashesbeauty.com

2. Don’t Skip a Trial

This is our chance to test products, find your perfect look, and address any skin concerns ahead of time. We'll also go over your skincare routine and make personalized recommendations.

3. Spray Tan Tips

Getting a spray tan? Amazing! I always recommend them. Just do it right:

  • Book it 2–3 days before the wedding.

  • Avoid face tanning if possible — it can cause patchiness/cling to dead skin. I can match your face to your body with makeup.

  • Exfoliate thoroughly before your tan and keep skin well moisturized afterward.

4. Brows, Waxing & Beauty Appointments

  • Get brows shaped at least 3–5 days before the wedding.

  • Avoid any waxing/facial hair removal 3-4 days before to prevent irritation.

  • If you’re planning lash extensions or tinting, do a trial beforehand to avoid allergic reactions.

  • Botox/Filler- Any of these appointments should be at minimum a month before your wedding day

5. The Night Before + Morning Of

  • Cleanse, moisturize, and get a good night’s sleep.

  • Avoid trying new products or treatments too close to the day.

  • On the morning of, arrive with a clean, makeup-free face — I’ll take care of the rest.

  • Have your bridesmaids bring inspo pics of what they want their makeup to look like.

  • I always recommend bringing extra lip products, lash glue and setting powder if you tend to get oily/sweat a lot.

Final Thoughts

Makeup isn’t magic. Healthy, glowing skin is what makes it last and look its best. Give your skin the care it deserves, and you’ll look and feel radiant — not just on your wedding day, but in every photo you’ll cherish for years to come.

Can’t wait to glam you up!
